Looking for reliable kiln hire in Bristol? Our fully equipped ceramics studio offers flexible kiln firing for home potters, ceramic artists and small-batch makers. Choose from shelf-by-shelf firing or full kiln hire, with two electric Rohde kilns available. Standard firings are available at 1000°C for bisque and 1250°C for glaze.

Flexible Kiln Firing for Potters & Ceramic Artists
Whether you have a few handmade pieces to fire or need additional capacity for a larger batch, our kiln firing service offers flexible options to suit your work.

We have two electric Rohde top-loading kilns available:

100L kiln – with 42cm diameter shelves (prices in table)

165L kiln – providing additional capacity for larger volumes of work (bookable on request for large scale ceramics)

For standard firings, you can book space by the shelf. Our standard firing temperatures are 1000°C for bisque and 1250°C for glaze.
If you require a custom firing schedule, non-standard temperature, or have specific clay or glaze requirements, the entire kiln must be booked.

How Our Kiln Hire Works
Once you've booked, ceramics can be dropped off and collected on Mondays and Fridays between 4:00pm and 8:00pm.

Our studio team handles the kiln loading, so you don't need to load your own work. Turnaround is typically one to two weeks.
We recommend testing glazes on test tiles before a full firing and using clay cookies or mats where appropriate to help prevent glaze running onto the kiln shelves.
​
Full kiln hire ranges from £45 to £70 per firing, depending on kiln size, temperature and usage.
​
If an untested glaze or poor application damages a kiln shelf, charges of £20 per fixable shelf or £50 per shelf damaged beyond repair may apply.
