About the event
Take your pottery wheel skills to the next level with this 3–4 hour intermediate pottery workshop in Bristol, where you'll learn how to throw, alter and finish your own handcrafted ceramic gravy boat.
Designed for intermediate potters with at least 6 months of pottery wheel experience, this workshop is all about developing your throwing technique and pushing the boundaries of what you already know. We'll focus on intentional throwing movements and altering thrown forms, transforming a traditional round form into a beautiful, functional oval-shaped gravy boat.
You'll learn how to manipulate the clay to create the oval shape before adding a handmade handle and carefully shaping the spout. We'll focus on refining the details and perfecting the form before choosing from our selection of glazes for your finished piece.
Your handmade gravy boat will then be glazed and kiln fired by us, ready to collect approximately 4 weeks after the workshop.
