Make a Mug at Bristol Thrift

Come and make your very own handcrafted ceramic mug with Pottymouth Workshop at  Document Bristol as part of the Bristol Thrift Market.

Join ceramicist Meredith Mason at Document, a creative hub, venue, and art space set in a former document storage facility based in the heart of Bristol.

You'll be guided step-by-step through the process of making your own pinched ceramic mug. You don't need any previous clay experience as everything will be fully explained on the day.

What to expect:

Learn the fundamentals of pinching and sculpting pottery

Make your own clay mug with the help of professional ceramicists

Collect your mugs 2-4 weeks later after they've been fired and glazed

After a brief demonstration from your experts, you'll be left to flex your new skills! Practice the fundamentals of slab building: rolling out clay, slip and scoring, and decorative techniques to finish off with your personal and unique design.

Your finished item will be left with your hosts who will fire and glaze your work. You will be contacted to collect your mugs from your host within 2-4 weeks.

Enjoy the amazing array of thrifted and handmade goods as you explore the market after your session. 

Although we have some aprons available- its best to wear some clothes you don't mind getting a bit mucky or bring your own apron to protect your clothes.
